Police shut down area outside Glendale apartment complex due to barricaded suspect

A barricaded suspect in a Glendale apartment building prompted a large police response early Thursday morning, according to authorities.

Law enforcement officers were posted at an apartment complex in the 1800 block of Vassar Street, Glendale police confirmed.

Police asked the public to avoid the area around 8:30 a.m., and at that time, SWAT and fire personnel could be seen surrounding the complex.

By about 9:15 a.m., however, police said the situation was clear by 9:15 a.m.

No additional details were immediately made available, including as to whether the incident was a hostage situation or if a potential suspect was armed.
