SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A man was arrested Friday after a standoff in Land Park near the Sacramento Zoo and Fairytale Town.

According to Sgt. Mike Severi with the Sacramento Police Department, it began around 11:45 a.m. when police were called about a man with a gun around Land Park Drive and 17th Avenue.

Severi says officers arrived and the man wasn’t cooperating, so additional resources were called in due to how busy the area usually is.

Officers shot pepperballs at the man after a few hours of negotiations and he was taken into custody. Officers and the suspect were not injured.

Although the call came in as a man with a gun, police say they found the man did have a weapon.
