Father of student injured in Galt school bus crash speaks out

A father shared an urgent message after his daughter was injured in a crash involving a school bus and pickup truck in Galt on Tuesday. The bus had 15 students on board, initial reports from CHP stated only the bus driver was taken to the hospital.Jorge Soria’s 13-year-old daughter was sitting directly behind the bus driver when he got to the scene at the intersection of A Street and Oak Avenue and decided he would take her to the hospital out of precaution. “They did an MRI and they discovered she had internal bleeding because she had two fractures,” Soria said.Soria says his daughter doesn’t remember much from the crash. “There was a little time period where she blacked out completely. All she can remember is waking up and two firefighters were there to escort her out of the bus,” Soria said. Now he’s telling other parents whose children were on the bus to have them checked out as well. “They didn’t anticipate any internal injuries, which are the silent killers of accidents at times. It is advisable if any of your children were in the accident please have them checked out if they haven’t been checked out, even if they said they were okay,” Soria said.66-year-old Alfredo Robles was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence and has since been released.
