2 firefighters injured in Cosumnes River Boulevard fire near I-5

Two firefighters were transported with injuries from battling a fire on Cosumnes River Boulevard near Interstate 5 in Sacramento County, officials said.According to the Consumnes Fire Department, the fire was reported on the Sacramento Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant property on Tuesday at around 2:45 p.m.Officials said five agencies responded to the fire, with the firefighters arriving within 10 minutes and bringing the fire under control at 3:37 p.m.Officials said one firefighter was down with a hand injury and the other with a heat-related illness. One of the firefighters was with the Cosumnes Fire Department, and the affiliation of the other firefighter was unclear.The fire department added that some units will remain on the scene throughout the night for mop-up.Officials are yet to determine the cause of the fire.The Cosumnes fire crews were in the area earlier, before the fire, training with the Folsom Fire Department to prepare for grass fire season.
